On Jan. 30, influencer James Charles took to TikTok to mock Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s medical condition. Charles, who gained fame for his makeup tutorials, posted a video in which he claimed, “How many packs of cigarettes a day do you have to smoke to even get to that level of throat pain?”
Kennedy, a prominent figure in the Make America Healthy Again movement (MAHA) during Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, was diagnosed with Spasmodic Dysphonia (SD) at the age of 42. SD causes involuntary spasms in the voice box muscles, leading to a strained voice and making clear speech difficult.
“You’re trying to convince us, HE’S going to be the secretary of health?” Charles added.
This comes just 24 hours after Kennedy appeared before the Senate Committee on Finance for a confirmation hearing regarding his nomination as Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).
